SEGA of America, Inc. announced today that the highly-anticipated arcade fighting game, Virtua Fighter 5 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, has shipped to retail outlets in North America.
Virtua Fighter 5 features an online two-player VS. mode via Xbox LIVE online entertainment network, allowing Virtua Fighter players to compete online. Players can select one of the 17 characters and customize a character in Quest mode. Customization features enable players to modify their characters with one of four base costumes and a wide range of unlockable and earnable items. Players can achieve victory and earn in-game money by defeating highly-skilled opponents, which enables them to purchase many items at an in-game shop.
Virtua Fighter 5 is based on the latest arcade version update and features both analog stick and D-pad control, as well as vibration support. The game also includes an improved Quest mode featuring more CPU rivals, items, and emblems for character customization. The DOJO mode has added features including leaderboards, training move settings, improved throw escape training, and the option to change your opponent’s position and recovery type. These all work to create a more refined DOJO mode where players can improve their fighting strategy.
“This is the moment Virtua Fighter fans have been waiting for – online head-to-head fighting for Virtua Fighter 5,” said Rick Naylor, Director of Marketing, SEGA of America. “The introduction of online play opens up the Virtua Fighter competition arena to a global scale, enabling players to compete and challenge anyone, anywhere, anytime, using Xbox LIVE.”
