Today's announcement marks a key turning point from Turbine’s ten-year history as a software developer in the online video games industry. Turbine will apply its proprietary technology, service organization, production capabilities, brands and financial resources to bring world-class products and services into the online games markets in North America and around the world.

The former contract developer began its transformation in 2003 when it acquired the sublicense to produce and operate the first massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) based on the world renowned Dungeons & Dragons franchise. Turbine followed with the acquisition of the Asheron’s Call video games from Microsoft in 2004, becoming the franchise’s publisher.

A radical departure from the company’s previous web site, the new design reflects a commitment to current and prospective members of Turbine’s colorful and thrilling online persistent world services.
